product shoot: Confection Perfection by Melissa

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Melissa Stone of Confection Perfection by Melissa to photograph her cupcakes and cookies for her business materials. What a neat opportunity for me! She has 10 varieties of cupcakes, and she brought me 5 of each kind. That's 50 cupcakes, people! After I shot them, I packaged them up and took them around to our neighbors. I couldn't, of course, give away the ones I'd unwrapped, so those had to get taste tested! And let me tell you, they taste even better than they look.

While the girls napped on Saturday, I photographed eggs.

We bought them at the Loco Cowpoke Salsa Shop in downtown McKinney that morning. I loved the carton, and the eggs are different sizes and colors (even some light blue ones). I just had to buy them!

I used my 50mm and my 105mm macro for these. It was fun to try different compositions and angles on subjects that stayed still. And all the way at the bottom is a self-portrait; I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and thought how silly I looked there with my foam board and bowl of eggs!

Went to MOM & POPcorn in downtown McKinney today to buy some things for Kate's birthday.
-Wish I'd had my camera with me in that fun store!
-Wish I'd thought to take this picture before drinking most of this DP.
-Wish I'd taken the shot in the daytime with natural light.  Maybe I'll try again tomorrow! (EDIT: I cheated and re-took this shot the next day and uploaded the new one. Natural light makes all the difference!)
