Am I a horrible mother that this photo makes me laugh??
I promise Kate wasn't sad; she was just frustrated. She loves buckles right now and enjoys trying to put them together by herself. She's just not successful very often. It's hard for tiny hands!

| {final call} Caroline's last feeding every night is no picnic. She's so sleepy that it takes a lot of effort to get a drop down her! Doesn't seem to negatively affect her nighttime sleep, though; she has not been waking up until 7am. What a champ! |

{nana and pops visit}
Nick's parents enjoyed seeing the girls this weekend, and we sure enjoyed their company and appreciated their help. I even got to go shopping on Saturday... wait for it... ALL BY MYSELF! What a treat!

{slept through the night}
At just 5 1/2 weeks, Caroline slept through the night! Sleep training is going well; we have her on a great schedule, and we put her down awake and swaddled with her sound machine on. It helps that we moved her to her crib upstairs. I'm a very light sleeper, so when she was in our room, I woke up to her every grunt, and I was feeding much earlier than she really needed. Hopefully she can make the nine-hour stretch a consistent routine!

{now I know my ABCs}
Kate is letter-obsessed. She points to letters everywhere, and if she doesn't know one, she usually guesses C or P. She can now name (or identify) most of the alphabet. I'm a proud mama!

{the fourth of July}
I wanted to play around with "light painting" after seeing some neat attempts on a blog I follow. In case you can't read it, I wrote "July 4" with the flashlight while the red and blue glow stick squiggles are Nick's handiwork. :)
The hardest part was figuring out the focus... I'm still not sure I did it right.
Settings: ISO 320, f/4, 6 sec. shutter, w/ 50mm lens
no post processing other than cropping

| {soaked!} We had a family dinner at my parents' house this evening with my brothers' families. Kate didn't get in the kiddie pool, yet she somehow ended up soaking wet. It was a good thing we shopped at the outlets right before dinner, otherwise we wouldn't have had a change of clothes for the girl. She had a great time with her cousins! |
