backyard (mini) photo shoot
We're back in the swing of things with our blog circle, and we added a few new members, too! Be sure to click through everyone's posts to see some amazing stuff. Up next is my friend, Allison McSorley, a talented photographer in NYC. Last month one of my dearest friends gave birth to her third child - a baby girl - a special gift to her mama, and a little princess for her daddy and two older brothers. I was beyond excited when Clara made her debut on a Saturday morning when I could easily leave the girls with Nick and make the 1 mile drive to the hospital to document her arrival. What an amazing experience! Is there any better "new" than this??
(Sept. 27) We go every year to the Celina "Big Orange Pumpkin Farm" with our life group friends. I decided just to blow through a roll of film rather than overshoot and have more pictures in my editing queue! I decided just to take a chance and get them developed at Walgreens. Walgreens didn't do so hot (they have some bad lines running through them), but since these were just snapshots, I didn't really mind.

Highly imperfect, but sharing anyway. :)
I know her eyes are closed, but it was too cute not to share...
So proud of Kate for working up the nerve to feed the animals this year. Caroline didn't want to have any part of that!
Just a fraction of our crew:
I have no clue when this was... just some cloudy morning mid-summer! Nothing special, but I haven't posted in forever, so I wanted to add something. Nikon D80 + Sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens
Portra 400, box speed, overexposed by 1-2 stops
Scanned by Richard Photo Lab
Kate had her first dance (ballet/tap) class for the new school year last week. This year she's taking with her friend, Hayley, and Kate felt very comfortable going in knowing her friend would be with her! Scroll down for some video clips.

My Sigma 35 f/1.4 arrived yesterday from Adorama! I spent all of nap/rest time getting it calibrated (quite a process), and I practiced on Kate while she was relatively still this afternoon. These are all at f/1.4 (since I wanted to test the focus wide open). I'm so excited to get a wide angle prime back in my bag! I ended up calibrating at +3, and it's pretty darn sharp.
