{lens baby: the heard-craig house}
The historical Heard-Craig house in downtown McKinney is a great spot for portraits. Only problem is that Kate doesn't "model" for me quite yet. She runs from place to place, getting into things she shouldn't. I guess I should say that someday it will be a great spot for portraits.

When I called the historical society to make an appointment for our group at the house, she gave me instructions to keep our children with us at all times and keep them out of the gardens. Here's a collage of pictures I got of Kate doing nothing but getting into the gardens. I'm sure the lady from the society would have had a fit. Sorry, lady! At least she didn't step on the plants or pick any flowers. I don't think.

{BEAUTIFUL weather}
After a scorcher of a summer (temps 105 to even 109 have been the norm), our forecast calls for highs in the 80s this week. What a relief!! It was so much fun to walk to the park this morning and play in our backyard in the afternoon. I know these temps probably aren't here to stay, but you can bet we'll make the most of these days while they're here.

Kate had so much fun crawling up the slide and sliding back down. It was hard to get her to come inside for dinner!

{butterfly in a jar}
I bought this butterfly jar as a photo prop thinking Kate might actually sit down and look at it, giving me enough time to snap a few shots . Ha! Should've known this girl wouldn't sit still for anything.

The butterfly is pretty neat... it looks so real, and it "flies" around the jar when sound activated. It's still a neat prop, even if Kate won't look at it!

{happy birthday to me!}
It started like any other day... spit up, dirty diapers, and time with my sweet, sweet girls. Nick took a half day, and the four of us stopped for a quick photo op before a little window-shopping in downtown McKinney. Then we met my parents for dinner at Sauce. Raced home to get the girls in bed, have a glass of wine, and eat cookie cake! And now, Nick has offered to let me pick out a "girly movie" for us to watch. :) Tomorrow I look forward to shopping with my mom and a date night with Nick.

These photos were edited with my new photo editing tool called RadLab. I'm still getting the hang of it, and I'm sure I'm not utilizing its full capabilities yet, but it's really neat!

{caroline found her thumb}
Looks like she's going to be a thumb sucker like her mama was!

Confession: I didn't stop sucking my thumb until I was seven years old. I also remember what finally made me stop... my grandmother bribed me. She offered me 50 bucks to stop sucking my thumb, and she gave my brother the same amount to stop biting his fingernails. I stopped sucking my thumb and took up nail-biting instead. Still haven't fully outgrown that one, though I'm much better than I used to be. Better than still sucking my thumb, right?

{so excited}
It's hard to explain... I want time to stand still, but I'm also so excited to see the relationship these girls will have in the future. I'm excited to see how they will play together, share laughter and secrets, and encourage and be there for each other. I pray for their relationship daily. What a sweet gift they have in each other!
